New Paintings!!!

Here are my new paintings. I guess I had a period of liking stripes and the color gold. lol The first one is called "Honey Child". She is a child of nature and a honey collector; she certainly has a way with charming the bees. No suit required. It is on a 9x12 canvas that I stretched myself. The golden hues make me think of summer at its hottest.
The second painting is called "Red Velvet". Sometimes you just have to paint a cupcake. And I definitely had an urge to paint one. Just looked so fun. So here it is...a red velvet cupcake! ^_^ It is on a 6x8 canvas that I also stretched myself.

These paintings will be up on Ebay today.

New Whimsical Paintings and An Idea

Here are some new Alice in Wonderland paintings. The first one is "Alice" and the second one is "Dinah"(her little kitty). I was going for a somewhat dark-Tim Burton feel with the color palette, Alice's dark eye makeup, and, of course, the black-and-white stripes on the sides. These paintings go great as a pair and will be up on Ebay today.

I had this idea one day to put my art on a useful item, that people could always carry with them. These are little credit card wallets. I printed my artwork on canvas sheets and attached them, along with different patterned fabric, to the outside. I used mod podge as a protectant coat over the outside. It gives the wallets a sheen, but also makes them stiff and durable. The wallets also have stitching detail around the artwork just for fun.
They can hold your cards (with pockets on each side), a photo (a clear pocket on one side), and they are a perfect size for holding your business cards. You could even use them as a gift card holder for someone.
These wallets will also be listed on Ebay later today.

Our Fourth of July Gathering

My sister and I with 2 of our close girlfriends (basically cousins ^_^)
(L2R: Megan, Tara (my sister), Natalie, and me)

Our little cousin Rose with all the big girls ^_^

Hope everyone had a wonderful Fourth of July weekend. We had some rain and gloom at our family party, but we still made it fun. The party was at my Uncle and Aunt's (of Hot Tamale Art Studio) house. Our family always has such a great time together...and so loud. haha

I have some ideas for two paintings that I have sketched out on canvas. They are going to be whimsical, as many of my paintings are. lol I'll be working on those along with 3 other large, commissioned pieces. Should keep me busy. ^_^

New Painting

This one is called "The Cafe". Just decided to try something a little different. This one is in acrylics, but in a more impressionistic style. It is sort of a strange size (about 6.5x8.5) because I stretched some canvas over an old frame. Such a great thing to do with them and very easy!

She is very posh and dressed to a T for her daily visit to the Cafe. She sips her expresso accompanied by a little feline friend.
Anyway... Who knows? This may be the start of a narrative series. ^_^

"The Cafe" will be listed on Ebay this evening.

***I also forgot to mention that I have an Artfire store now. I have some full-size and mini prints in there right now. So go check it out through the link under my banner!

Doing Some Oils Again

"Tea for Two"

It's been a while since I used oil paints...forgot how fun they are to work with, but take FOREVER to dry. The last time I used oils was a little more than a year ago. So here it is! It is my baby, Snickers, drinking out of one of our teacups. I definitely want to do some more oils, maybe even list some on Ebay. Hope everyone is having a wonderful summer and not too bothered by the Cicadas! UGH!

I'm also listing some FULL-SIZE prints on Ebay. They are full-8x10.5 prints on 8.5x11 Soft gloss Premium HP Photo Paper.
Here are some of the paintings:

New Summer Painting!

This painting is inspired by the magical, summer nights of my childhood. Fairies were a big part of it. ^_^ We had a fairy ring in our woods; on warm, summer nights, my sister and I would sneak around the dark forest's edge trying to get a peak at the fairies frolicking at their parties around their tiny bonfires. Such magic in the air during those summer nights long ago.
This painting is called "Summer Night Magic". She frolics with the fairies as they crown her queen. I will be listed on Ebay today.

Mini Prints ^_^

I've decided to do MINI prints to see how they do. They are on 4"x6" glossy photo paper. I think I would rather do matte, but it's hard to find...maybe if I do bigger prints. They are a cute size for inexpensive collectables. I listed a few on Ebay earlier today. I am thinking about getting an Etsy shop, but I'm not sure what would work better.

Lot's to think about and do. Need to get some paintings done soon! ^_^

A Recently Commissioned Piece...and Maybe Prints?

This piece is for a lovely lady that I have done several paintings for. She calls herself the "Siamese Lady". I am working on another one for her currently.

On another thought...I am thinking about selling prints of my paintings. I'm not sure...if they will be mini prints or regular size prints.....whether they should be matte or semi-gloss......and whether to sell them on Etsy or Ebay. Just gotta figure out what would be best.

Have a wonderful day!

BUSY, BUSY, BUSY...and a SALE!

This is in a boat on the River Walk

Photos from Basic Training Graduation Ceremony

It's been so long since I've painted or written on my blog. I've been so busy with the end of the school year. So many projects to get done, with little time for anything else.
But now I am officially finished with school for the summer! ^_^

On top of the school year ending...I got to visit my boyfriend twice since he's been in training. In March I got to go to Lackland Airforce Base in San Antonio, TX to see his Basic Training graduation. It was really neat to see and I am so proud of him. He was an Honor grad which is the top 10% of around 800 (this is based on the score on the physical and written test), and there is a Top Honor grad overall and he was in the number 2 spot. ^_^ I'm glad I got to see it. It was very nice of his parents to take me along. Then, just this past weekend I went with his family to visit him at Tech school at Keesler AFB in Biloxi, MS. I had a great time! It was so nice to see him again. I miss him so much...but glad that he can talk on the phone now that he is out of Basic training.

Time to start getting back to painting...
And to start off my summer vacation,
I am having sale of some old paintings I have sitting around my house. Gotta clear out my stash and start new. I will start them at $2.99 so drop by to see if there is anything you like. They will be listed on Ebay today! So check out the **SALE!**

Hope everyone has a wonderful day!

In Anticipation of Spring...

Here are two new spring paintings. The first one is called "Longing for Spring...and You". She is deep in her thoughts, longing to see spring...and a special someone. Her little, fury friend keeps her company. This painting is embellished with gold metallic paint which makes the jade and red pop. the second painting is called "A Little Bird Told Me". She is quite amused by the secret the little bird tells her. These two paintings will be listed on Ebay tonight.

Two New Paintings!

The first painting is called "I Am Loved". The feeling is wonderful...it makes you feel content and makes you life have meaning. The second one is called "Frosty Angel". She has lots of pearl paint added to give her a frosty appearance. She rescues injured animals such as this little kitty. These paintings will be listed on Ebay tonight.

New Valentine's Painting

"Love Letters"

It's been a while...but here's my new painting for Valentine's. This painting is somewhat of a self-portrait, only in the vintage 40s era. My necklace and pearl bracelet from my boyfriend are present in the painting along with my cuddly feline, snickers, who is keeping me company. I won't be able to spend Valentine's Day with my Valentine this year. But we will be sending letters to each other. Can't wait to visit him in March.
This painting is up on Ebay now!

It's Been a While...

Us at his Going-Away party.
It's been a while since I've painted. I was busy with the holidays and family. And spending a lot time with my boyfriend, Zack, before he left for Basic Training in Texas for two months. And then after that he will be going to Mississippi for his other training for 7 months. A total of 9 months. He is in the Air National Guard. He had to leave a week earlier than he originally thought...so that was a little shocking. He left Wednesday (Jan. 19) morning...and it just so happened it was my first day of classes of the spring semester from 9am to 9pm. Very stressful day. It was very hard seeing him go. I'm already missing him so much...it's hard not being able to even talk to him on the phone. I feel bad for his family and his younger brothers and sisters. I hope they don't have too hard of a time. Hopefully we will get to write letters soon. I will get to see him for his graduation from Basic in 2 months. His parents were nice enough to invite me down with them. They are very kind and supportive. I just have to keep myself distracted and keep telling myself that 2 months will go by quickly.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Holiday. I know I did even though it ended on a little of a sad note. And hopefully I can get some paintings going again.

Trying Something New

I decided to try something new. I had this idea for a while now and just got around to executing it. The pendants on all the necklaces are made of fun-patterned fabrics. The fabric is stiffened with decoupage glue. These pendants are enhanced with silver and crystal beads and silver leafing around the edges of the fabric. The fabric makes these necklaces one of a kind. It gives them a handmade quality. I am listing these three necklaces on Ebay later today and making more. Hope everyone is having a wonderful Christmas season.

New Christmas/Winter Painting

Here are my new painting for the start of the winter holiday season. The first one is called "Snow Babies". She keeps the fuzzy, orphaned owl babies safe and warm; for she is their new mommy. The second one is called "Found". Finding a lost pet brings you such joy. This girl found her little kitty on a cold, snowy night. She cradles him in her loving arms as she carries him back to the house. These two paintings will be up on Ebay tomorrow evening (Nov. 22). Hope everyone enjoys their Thanksgiving!

New Paintings Finally

I've been so busy with school. And now I finally got around to some painting. It's a little late for Halloween paintings...but these paintings are not necessarily Halloween themed. But I guess they could be. The first one is called "Autumn Masquerade Gossip". These ladies are trying to be secretive about sharing some juicy gossip. ^_^ The second one is called "The Velvet Ribbon". This one has a known story behind it. But if you have not heard of "The Velvet Ribbon" by Ann McGovern...here is the link. READ HERE
These paintings will be up on Ebay tomorrow evening.

Hope everyone has a wicked Halloween!

Back from Las Vegas

Going to see Cirque du Soleil- Mystere at Treasure Island

The Luxor Hotel

Bellagio fountain show

Hoover Dam
Red Rock Canyon and Zion Park

I got back from Las Vegas very late Friday. My boyfriend's parents took us on the trip. It was very generous of them, to invite me along. I had so much fun seeing the amazing hotels, eating at buffets, seeing a Cirque du Soleil show, and going to parks such as Zion and Red Rock Canyon. Sad that it's over but it's nice be home too. Now I need to get back into the normal swing of things like school, and back to painting! ^_^

Whimsical Halloween Paintings!

Before we know it this whimsical holiday will be upon us. Halloween is one of my favorite holidays. I love the decorating for it. The first painting is called "The Queen of Halloween". Her majesty watches over this haunting holiday with her amethyst eyes; and her crow on her shoulder, eying her shiny jewels, as they often do ^_^. The second painting is called "Black Magic". With a bewitching smile and her black magic fluttering near, she'll always have her way.
These enchanted paintings are up on Ebay right now!

PS. I relisted these paintings on Ebay for a $0.99 sale!!! ^_^
